Tropicamide is a tertiary amine antimuscarinic which causes relaxation of the sphincter muscle of the iris resulting in pupillary dilatation. It also causes paralysis of the ciliary muscle leading to loss of accommodation
Tropicam 1% Sterile Eye Drops
Production of cycloplegia: Instill 1-2 drops of a 1% solution repeated after 5 minutes. An additional drop may be admin after 20-30 minutes for prolonged effect.
Production of mydriasis: Instill 1-2 drops of a 0.5% solution 15-20 minutes before examination.
